Skinceuticals Sans Soleil Moisturizing Sunless Tanner
October 31, 2005 on 1:06 am by AgostiniOne “cream of the crop” self tanner that doesn’t receive a lot of press is SkinCeuticals Sans Soleil Moisturizing Sunless Tanner.
SkinCeuticals prides itself on promoting “skin health – not trends” and this mantra is reflected in its Sans Soleil product. The company boasts using Erythrulose, an ingredient that helps prevent dryness while helping to give a sunless glow. The product also claims that it fades naturally and slowly and helps tan without the need for other moisturizers.
Sans Soleil is relatively expensive compared to other products – a 3 oz bottle can cost over $25 – but is backed by a team of dermatologists, plastic surgeons, medi-spas and other skincare professionals that engineered the product.
Tanning Moisturizer: Not Just Another Self Tanning Product
October 30, 2005 on 1:04 am by DanielleA lot of people think that most tanning products work the same way, but tanning moisturizer is a real breakthrough that is helping millions of people to get an easy, natural tan. Jergens natural glow is the leading product on the market — it’s easy to apply to your skin and leaves you with a great natural looking bronze tan!
Check out what Jergens has to say about the difference between tanning moisturizer and common self-tanners:
Self-tanners dehydrate your skin. They are cosmetic in nature, and are merely designed to stain the uppermost layer of your skin. In fact, most self-tanners recommend that you moisturize liberally days before applying the product to avoid problems like streaking and uneven coverage. The result is often an unnatural color, and dry skin.
If you’ve tried self-tanning before but not with a tanning moisturizer, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. It’s amazing how well this stuff really works!
Tan Your Skin to the Perfect Color!
October 29, 2005 on 10:03 pm by ShimshockIf your “tan” leaves you looking a shade of yellow or orange that is quite different from your natural skin color, it’s probably not going to be too believable. For those of you that dye your hair, the process and its problems are quite similar. Self-tanner results on your natural coloring and so each user gets a slightly different tan from the same tanning product. At least this will keep us from looking like “Brave New World” style tanning automatons. But let’s protect against looking like a banana or an orange, okay? AuerSaver Tanning & Fitness offers this advice:
Experiment to find the perfect shade (and the right amount of product needed) for you. Unless your natural skin tone is very dark, start off with a product that has a lower concentration of DHA (meaning one that’s labeled “fair” or “medium,” not “dark” or “deep”), and give yourself two or three applications, spread out over a few days. Or try the newest innovation: Neutrogena Build-a-Tan , a self-tanner that allows you to gradually build up your color–no matter what your skin tone–based on the number of applications.
If you’re already noticing some unappealing color on your skin, gently scrub the product off in the shower, or go for a swim in a pool. The chlorine will accelerate the fading process.
What’s Your Skin Type?
October 28, 2005 on 5:43 am by DanielleThere are a lot of different skin colors out there, from Pee-wee-Herman-pasty to Wesley-Snipes-chocolate. If there’s one thing we know about tanning, it’s that everybody’s different. Not all folks have the same reaction to the sun’s rays or to sunless tanners.
But there are some skin “types” that will help you figure out how you measure up.
Sunless.com has a good article on skin types with some enjoyable pictures to help you figure out where you stack up.
So are you a Type 1 “Always burns; never tans” or a Type 6 “Never burns; deeply pigmented; insensitive” or somewhere in between?
How Dark Can You Go When Sunless Tanning?
October 26, 2005 on 5:12 pm by MurphyA while ago, someone posted a question on the TanTalk website that generated over 70 comments within a day: “What is the darkest tanning lotion you can buy?” You should read the whole thread to get the big picture, but lots of people seem to like JA Accelerating Oil for a dark effect. Also, one good point made in the discussion is that if it’s not working you may be using too much!
“…it sounds like they are using too much of the lotion, which means it is not being absorbed…”
Sunless Tans Gone Wrong and How To Get Rid of Them
October 26, 2005 on 12:05 pm by DanielleWe’ve all done it — sometimes the tan just doesn’t look quite as natural as when it came out of the bottle. You’ve got to go outside soon and you can’t let your public see you this way!
Relax. There is hope. Well, depending on what you slathered onto your skin, that is.
And how far you’re willing to go to get it off. When you think you’re ready to reach for the hydrogen peroxide, check out this article before you do something silly.
St. Tropez Self-Tan Lotion: Chocolatey Goo Has Never Looked So Delicious
October 25, 2005 on 1:40 pm by GrablerFor all you chocolate lovers/self-tanners out there, do I have the product for you…
The self tanning lotion from St. Tropez at first glance appears to be a delicious chocolate sauce that you might spread on your nightly two scoops of vanilla. But don’t be freaked out by its appearance. The St. Tropez Self-Tanner works and it works well. But I say this with a caveat. Do not use this product if you have a lighter skin tone, unless you combine the tanning lotion with some sort of body moisturizer. I’ve heard many horror stories like this one, so if are of Irish-Catholic descent or are similarly pale, follow my advice or risk looking like Soul Man.
The St. Tropez self-tanner is specially made for those aspiring tanners with darker complexions who want to keep a deep, shaded tan without the effort and health hazards of lying in the sun. The tan’ll last for a number of days and if applied correctly will come out evenly without streaking. Since this is considered to be a top of the line sunless tanning product, the price, about $20 for a 4 ounce bottle, seems rather reasonable. So if you’re willing to shell out the cash and think a darker tan is for you, go ahead and indulge yourself in this chocolatey pleasure.
