Oil of Olay Quench Body Lotion: New Spokeswoman is Angela Bassett
November 30, 2005 on 7:56 am by MortensonOil of Olay Quench Body Lotion tapped Angela Bassett to be its new spokeswoman as they market the Quench brand to african-american women last Monday. She starred in What’s Love Got to Do with It, Waiting to Exhale, How Stella got Her Groove Back and Sunshine State
The national television and print campaign, promoting Olay’s Quench body lotion for the African-American market begins this month. The product, a shea butter formula containing an exclusive amino-vitamin formula that breaks the cycle of dry skin, eliminates the need for constant reapplication.
“Angela Bassett personifies the kind of woman who buys Olay products. She has ageless beauty and an aura of sophistication but she’s also very likable and real, a very rare combination,” said Brenda Blonski, senior vice president/group creative director at Burrell. “Research shows African-American women have different skin conditions and behaviors as it relates to how they use beauty products. “
Speaking of different conditions and behaviours, I once watched Waiting to Exhale and shared a carton of chocolate brownie ice cream with 6 Smith girls, only one of whom was straight. Not a good movie to build a positive environment for men.
This release means that Olay is serious about supporting and improving their Quench moisturizer lotion products and may mean new bronzer gels, self-tanner creams and sunless lotions specifically designed for people of darker skin. TanningMoisturizer’s Oil of Olay coverage will keep you up to date on any changes.

Coppertone’s Endless Summer Self-Tanning Lotions and Bronzers line: Something For Everyone
November 29, 2005 on 7:25 pm by Mortenson
Having done lots of research on self-tanning moisturizers, sunless tanning lotions, tanning foams, and pretty much every other type of sunless tan product on the market, it is a breath of fresh air to stumble across a brand name like Coppertone has in tanning. They offer such a wide variety of products which serve a slew of people, skin types and tanning objectives. The Coppertone Endless Summer line does just that, which goes to show you that the best in the biz in suntan lotion is also the best in the biz in sun-less tan lotion.
Coppertone offers four variations of sunless tanner that should cater to just about everyone:
1) sunless tanning lotions, 2) sunless tanning bronzing foams, 3) sunless tanning tanning foams and 4) my personal favorite, sunless tanning gradual tan moisturizing lotion.
Here’s one reviewers opinion of the gradual tan moisturizing lotion.
Coppertone Endless Summer Sunless Tanning Gradual Tan Moisturizing Lotion is perfect for anyone like myself who is new to sunless tanning. It is practically foolproof. I experienced no streaking or orange color, and no offensive scent. The best thing is you can gradually build a tan to the shade you want. Remember though, there is no SPF in this, so you’ll need other sun protection if you’re going to be out in the sun. If you’ve been wanting to try a sunless tanner, I heartily recommend Coppertone Endless Summer Sunless Tanning Gradual Tan Moisturizing Lotion.
Clarins Radiance-Plus Self Tanning Cream-Gel Review
November 28, 2005 on 7:12 pm by MortensonThe Clarins Radiance-Plus Self-Tanning Gel is not your typical self-tanner. At around $49/bottle it better not be!! In fact, I am willing to go out on a limb and recommend to those of you who are serious about sunless tanning to go out and purchase this lotionright now, or at least consider it.
Many of the sunless tanners on the market offer up tanning ingredients that make your skin smell funky and look unnatural. Clarins Radiance-Plus is not one of those products. Clarins tanning lotions have a long history of being excellent skincare products and this one might be the best of them all.
Mini Review:
Strengths: Clarins Radiance-Plus Self-Tanning Gel gives off a very natural-looking glow, subtly moisturizing your skin to keep it healthy while at the same time offering up a shimmering, iridescent look that will keep you glowing all year round. The fragrance that eminates from Radiance is classy and subtle. No unnatural odors here.
Weaknesses: Cost. Quality comes at a steep price ($49 for 1.7oz), but worth it for a sunless tanning lotion of this quality.
Ingredients: DHA, Erythrulose, Vitamin B5 (panthenol), Vitamin E.
For the face, Clarins has the Clarins Self Tanning Face Cream. And if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer always works well.
Don’t Forget To Self-Tan Your Hands and Feet!
November 27, 2005 on 7:23 am by MortensonYour extremities need lovin’ too. Usually the problem is that it’s too easy to get your sunless tanner applied on your hands and feet, but sometimes it’s hard to tell exactly what’s going on. This Sunless.com article gives a great review of some of the challenges you’re likely to encounter while applying tanning lotion:
The thicker skin absorbs too much sunless tanner. These areas have more sweat glands than most areas of the body. You have to blend the sunless tanner in without getting it on the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. Your nails and cuticles can be stained by sunless tanners. Shoes and hand washing rub the color off.
Luckily, it also has some really clever suggestions for tanning the skin on your hands and feet. No one said looking good was easy, but if you follow this advice when you apply your Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer or other self-tanning lotions you can make your skin glow look that way.
10 Best Sunless Tanning Products
November 25, 2005 on 11:04 pm by MortensonSunless.com has a great overview of the ten best drugstore sunless tanning products. Surprisingly, Jergens Natural Glow doesn’t make their list. They also order the list alphabetically, so there’s no way to know which prodcut is best overall. But there is a good description of each product so it’s worth taking a look if you’re researching which product is best for you.
Sunless tanning on a budget? Well worth trying, the products below are the equal of department store brands up to three times the price.
Blogger Discovers Jergens natural glow
November 23, 2005 on 5:13 pm by MortensonI love reading the stories as more and more folks are starting to discover what Jergens natural glow can do for them.
Oh!!!! I started using Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer! It’s that stuff for fair skin tones and it’s supposed to gradually darken your skin to make it look like it has a natural glow. It’s pretty good stuff. I like it anyway. I’ve used it twice…
Blogs are fun. I’ll check back and report if she has any other interesting tanning stories later. I can’t wait to learn what she’s going to have for dinner too!

November 22, 2005 on 7:15 pm by MortensonAlright, those of you who have reviewed many of the sunless tanner creams on the market know that there are very few choices out there that produce a glowing tan and also protect and nurture your skin, keeping the skin healthy and the wrinkles away.
