Clarins Tops The Style Group’s Top 10 List

March 27, 2006 on 5:55 pm by Mortenson

Have you seen The Style Group’s Top 10 List of self tanners? In it, it boasts its “Top 10 Picks” for a natural glow. As you can guess, many of them are high-end, with Clarins taking the top two spots (Clarins Sheer Bronze and Clarins Self-Tanning Instant Spray take the #1 and #2 spots, respectively). Additionally, the reviews read like a page out of The Devil Wears Prada:

…grab a bottle of Clarins Sheer Bronze for Legs & Face Self Tanner, The Style Group’s number 1 pick for the Top 10 Self-Tanners List. I swear, this is a life-saver that instantly bestows a wonderful natural gold shimmer to your legs and face, perfect against the white Chloe dress that Barneys sent over.

Also receiving shout-outs on the list were Estee Lauder, St. Tropez, Sisley, and others. You can check out our coverage of Clarins and these other brands by clicking the links to the right! Check it out!

Sunless Tanning Overview from Consumer Reports

March 24, 2006 on 12:17 pm by Mortenson

Check out this article at Consumer Search. Incuded are tips from experts including info about DHA (dihydroxyacetone) which is the main ingredient in most sunless tanning products. Here is a brief snippet they have on self tanning pills:

Some companies have sold capsules containing the chemical canthaxanthin, which they falsely claimed will tan skin and protect from sunburn and cancer; in June 2004, the FDA ordered these companies to stop selling canthaxanthin capsules. ASN Canthaxanthin capsules and Bronze EZ Canthaxanthin are two examples, both formerly marketed by SmartBodyz Nutrition. Experts warn that these capsules do nothing to protect skin from sun exposure or cancer.

There is a good overview of several brands including L’Oreal, Neutrogena, and Estee Lauder. You can also find Tanning Moisturizer reviews on our site.

Au Courant Instant Sunless Tanning Spray Refills Review

March 21, 2006 on 7:57 am by Mortenson

Being economical and environmentally friendly are both important to TanningMoisturizer.com , so we were excited to find out that Au Courant has large size refills available for their Au Courant Instant Sunless Tanning Spray. You can buy a 16oz refill ($50) for the your original 6oz Tanning Spray (which costs $30), or you can super size it with a a gallon (128oz for $225). The best value is the gallon which is almost 66% off the cost for buying the same volume of the original spray and about 40% off the 16oz refill. Probably more suited to an entire family of self-tanners or a salon which are going through the sunless tanning liquid like wolves.

Rating: 9, for people who love the Au Courant Instant Sunless Tanning Spray, and 8 for everyone else.

Both the Au Courant Instant Spray Solution Gallon Size and the 16oz size are available at TanForLess.

L’Oreal Sublime Gets 4 Stars

March 18, 2006 on 12:47 pm by Mortenson

There’s a great review of L’Oreal Sublime self-tanning moisturizer at epinions. The reviewer gives the gelee version of the product 4 stars!

The tanner is a translucent, lightly orange-tinted gel, with a consistency slightly less than that of honey … it has a clean, fresh scent (which was a pleasant change from the odd odor of most tanners), and contains vitamin E for extra skin conditioning

Great review of L’Oreal Sublime Bronze

March 15, 2006 on 12:27 pm by Mortenson

Here is a great review of L’Oreal’s sublime bronze tanner gelee product. The review is of German descent, so she knows what it’s like to struggle with pale skin. Her experience with this product was not positive, and the review offers a great balance to most of the positiv reviews that are out there.

The next morning, I awoke to orange, streaky legs, and feet that were tan(gerine) on the tops, but pale on the toes (save my right great toe). So much for wearing skirts and sandals this weekend.
