The WCF Courier has a round-up of the latest offerings in self-tanning lotions as summer approaches and people should be thinking about getting their glow on. Self-tanners offer fake, no-bake summer glow” provides mini-reviews for several self tanners which we have reviewed. For instance here is a side by side comparison of what they thought about Banana Boat’s Summer Color Sunless Spray vs our review of Banana Boat Sunless Summer Color Self Tanning Foam:

Ease of application: Very easy.

Scent: They aren’t kidding about directions to use in well-ventilated area. It reminded me of the Aqua Net days of the ’80s. Once the fumes settled, I never noticed it again.

Color: I didn’t spray my feet at all, but the overspray turned my feet orange and was enough to make it look like I was a regular on the sand volleyball court and not interested in scrubbing my feet. The rest of my legs looked OK though. Not that many streaks. What little streaking did occur after one coat was evened out with two extra sprays the next day.

Overall: After three sprays, I wasn’t very bronze, but I attribute it to my pale skin tone. It definitely added color and was worth the three minutes of trouble.

Compared to:

Strengths: Good value at a low price. Doesn’t get too dark too quickly so it’s good for beginners who want to experiment and get a gradual effect.

Weaknesses:
Conversely, don’t expect quick results with this product — it may require several applications so if you’re looking for a quick fix this is not the product for you. Also, the smell may come on a little strong for some of our readers who prefer a more subtle fragrance!

This product seems to work best for light skin.
